Yes, there are a variety of Texas solar incentives to help homeowners install solar systems. The available incentives vary depending on if you choose to own your home system or go with a lease/subscription plan. If you choose to own a solar energy system, you can qualify for the federal tax credit. The federal tax credit is 30% and will decrease to 26% in 2033. It will decrease again to 22% in 2034. After 2034, the tax credit for residential solar ends. There are some local rebates, but in the state of Texas Sunrun doesn’t participate in them.
While net metering isn't widely available in Texas, many Retail Electric Providers (REPs) offer solar buyback rates that allow you to earn credits for the excess solar power your system produces. Solar buyback programs are available for both subscription and owned home solar systems.
As a deregulated energy market, Texas has many energy supplier options. Our solar energy consultants will take the time to look over the REPs available in your region and help you choose a provider that aligns with your electricity needs. If you already have a REP you’d like to continue with, Sunrun can help you go solar if your Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) is CenterPoint, Oncor, or TNMP. Talking to a Sunrun representative is the best way to determine what REP is right for you. In addition to the listed REPs, there are also some municipal and co-op utilities throughout the state that qualify for Sunrun home solar.

Some solar customers choose to buy solar panels outright with an owned plan, where you can get a solar loan or pay upfront.
